Amwell Valley Ambulance Corp (AVAC) has informed us that, due to a severe shortage of volunteers, it can no longer provide ambulance services to our East Amwell residents as of January 1, 2024. We have arranged with other local rescue squads to provide ambulance service to our residents.
AVAC is staffed solely by volunteers. A lack of volunteers has been an ongoing problem for the past several years for AVAC. It has finally reached the point where AVAC no longer has the staffing to continue its operations.
During the past several years, other local rescue squads have been providing a significant amount of coverage in East Amwell Township. Thus, we anticipate a smooth transition of our ambulance service to those rescue squads.
This matter will be discussed at the Township Committee meeting on December 14th, at 7pm, at our Municipal Building. Subject to them having to handle emergencies, representatives from our local rescue squads will attend that meeting to answer questions.
